Be there!

For the Dutch party people, please introduce yourself.
Marco Donato: Ciao Olandesi é Olandesine ;-)
Federico Marton: Hola! J

Have you ever played solo? Why did you choose to play together?
Marco: We were both bedroom dj’s who occasionally played here and there back in the days in Italy. We started playing together at a party many years ago and we saw that it worked really well so we kept doing it. Now we play also individual gigs. It's nice sometimes to have the chance to decide exactly what to play and when for the whole set.

Federico: Yep when you play solo you can control better the direction of your set. On the other hand, while playing a duo dj set you can be more creative!

What is typical about the sound of Italoboyz?
Marco: It's driving, it's housy, but technoy, very jacking, and, ultimately, quite creative.
Federico: I think the most typical think is the freshness we try to keep all the time to throw a big musical resort.

"When you realize that without moving there won't be any change, you move..." is a quote from Marco. What was the reason for moving from Italy, a country where Techno music has grown adult in the last decade due to so many inspirational artists?

Marco: Because when I decided to make the move it was almost 10 years ago and at the time I couldn't see many opportunities where I was. I also wanted to make a change, to challenge myself, and go somewhere creative, musically and artistically. That's why London.
Federico: I think because in the 90’s we were thinking and dreaming about music. London was the city to be, big time!

What was the first main difference you noticed when you moved to London? And when did you realize that you could achieve the things you want to do in life in this city?
Marco: The first difference is the cosmopolitanism, another of the reasons why I wanted to move to London. I remember one of my favourite highlights, especially at the beginning, was, while going up or down in the underground, staring at the opposite escalator, and seeing all this mixture of different people, defined by colour, religion, ethnicity, race, style, mood, one after the other, moving and swinging around in an amazing  harmony.. And it was rather wonderful, that during the week before my 30th birthday, a few things have happened to me, which gave me the absolute consciousness that I was doing the right thing and that the direction I was walking into was the right one.
Federico: The weather :)

You also throw your own parties. What do you personally think are the main aspects a party has to have? When is a party a success?

Marco: We did, ages ago. I don't know really, I have never been into promoting parties; I was doing it because it was the only way to have a chance to play here in London, before being known for our music. But I think that promoting parties is a different form of art. You must be really good and commit a lot on it, you should have a vision of what your party should be and go for it, without compromises or taking (apparently) easy shortcuts.
Federico: We did some things in the past but in a really amateur way. It was just an excuse to play records, we are not promoters. Being a promoter is a hard job!

You are part of the Get Physical music label. The label artists as the great M.A.N.D.Y. and the legendary Booka Shade are also part of. What does this do to you?

Marco: They all are very nice guys, even beyond the name known by the public, there are lots of people working and collaborating with Get Physical, and all are very-very-very nice people.
Federico: It is a big honour.

The 16th of October will be your first gig ever in Utrecht, the Netherlands. What can the people in Holland expect from you?
Marco: Nice music that makes people dance. Always my number one aim!
Federico: A nice and intense party!

Is there anything else you'd like to say?

Marco: I was supporting Holland at the world cup final. ;-)
Federico: I’ll see you there guys! x
